Amethyst is a variety of quartz that has fused with manganese and iron during its formation. The strength of its distinctive colour is determined by how much iron is present in its content. Amethyst is a very soothing stone, and is commonly used to relieve negative emotions such as stress and to dispel anger. These tumbled stones are opaque medium to dark purple, with traces of white in larger sizes.
